K. Lemke et al., COMPARISON OF REARFOOT MOTION IN OVERGROUND VERSUS TREADMILL WALKING, Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 85(5), 1995, pp. 243-248
The purpose of this study was to determine whether walking on a treadm
ill is a valid simulator of overground walking with respect to rearfoo
t motion. The tibial, calcaneal, and rearfoot motions of 10 subjects (
2 males, 8 females) were videotaped white they walked on a treadmill a
nd overground. The results of a series of t-tests showed that there wa
s no statistically significant difference between the two conditions o
n any of the variables measured.
