In a seroepidemiological study 137 veterinarians from Styria were exam ined with respect to the prevalence of antibodies against bacteriologi cal (Part I), parasitological as well as virological zoonoses (Part II I). The range of investigations includes the following parasitological zoonoses: ascariosis, babesiosis, echinococcosis, fascioliasis, taeni a infection, toxocarosis, toxoplasmosis and trichinellosis. The propor tions of the detected antibodies against following antigens were: Toxo plasma gondii (55%), Toxocara canis (33%), Ascaris suum (22%), Taenia solium(1.5%) Trichinella spiralis(1.5%) and Echinococcus multiloculari s (0.8%). No specific antibodies could be detected for Babesia diverge ns, Fasciola hepatica and Echinococcus granulosus. With regard to the prevalences of parasitological zoonoses precautionary actions as well as arguments and facts for the information of the owners of animals we re discussed.
