Reactions of [Cu(PPh(3))(2)(MeCN)(2)]BF4 with the diimine ligands L(1)
and L(2) [L(1) = N-(2-pyridinylmethylene)-2,3,5,6,8,9,11, ro-1,4,7,10
,13-benzopentaoxacyclodecin-16-ylamine; L(2) = N-(2-pyridinylmethylene
)phenylamine] yielded the complexes [Cu(PPh(3))(2)(L(1))BF4 (1) and [C
u(PPh(3))(2)(L(2))]BF4 (2), respectively. Their photophysical and elec
trochemical properties have been studied. The X-ray crystal structure
and the cation binding properties of 1 have also been determined.
