We consider some of the issues of implementing the prediction and cont
rol algorithms of the companion paper (Heath and Wellstead 1994). The
algorithms are suitable for setting in self-tuning mode by combining t
hem with recursive parameter estimation algorithms. The problems of se
t-point tracking and offset handling are also considered. It is shown
that if the two-dimensional process can be modelled as incremental, th
en the solution is particularly staightforward. Throughout, the result
s are illustrated by simulations.
