Abstract
Highly sensitive nitrate ion-sensitive field-effect transistors (nitra te ISFETs) have been investigated for acid-rain monitoring by using sp ecially designed hydrophobic nitrate-sensing materials. Using this nit rate-sensing membrane, we have prepared a prototype nitrate checker co mposed of a nitrate ISFET and a silver/silver chloride reference elect rode and have demonstrated its preliminary application to real samples of rain water. The correlation coefficient between the values observe d by the prepared nitrate checker and conventional ion chromatography is 0.989.
