Abstract
One thousand consecutive patients with systemic connective tissue dise ases were screened clinically and serologically to determine the exist ence of mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) in the Indian populatio n. After completion only three patients could be diagnosed as having M CTD using the standard diagnostic criteria. The results of this study point to MCTD existing but it appears to be a rare entity in the India n population.
