The reaction of CdSO4 with hydrazine and hydrazinium oxalate in aqueou
s solution at several pH values leads to the formation of various comp
lexes, Only three complexes were successfully isolated: Cd-2(C2O4)(2)
. N2H4, CdC2O4 . N2H4 . O.5H(2)O and CdC2O4 . 1.5N(2)H(4). The reactio
n of ZnSO4 with hydrazine and hydrazinium oxalate produces only the co
mplex ZnC2O4 . 2N(2)H(4). On reaction of MSO(4) with hydrazinium oxala
te, double oxalates of Co, Ni and Co of general formulae Co(NH3NH3)(C2
O4)(2) . 2H(2)O, Ni-2(NH3NH3)(C2O4)(3) . 4H(2)O, and Cu(NH2NH3)(2)(C2O
4)(2) . H2O were obtained. The complexes obtained were characterized b
y elemental analysis, X-ray powder patterns, IR spectroscopy, and TG a
nd DTA techniques.
