D. Krug et al., THE USE OF CERTAIN PARAMETERS OF THE ACOU STIC-EMISSION ANALYSIS FOR THE CONTROL OF WOOD DRYING PROCESSES, Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 53(4), 1995, pp. 253-256
Drying stresses within timber are influenced decisively by the course
of the drying process. Process depending changes of these stresses cau
se acoustic signals emitted by the wood. These acoustic emissions are
dependent on wood density, fibre length and moisture content concernin
g their frequency, amplitude and energy. If the determined emission pa
rameters can be further quantified, the analysis of acoustic emission
could be used as a non-destructive test method for controlling the dry
ing process of timber.
