O. Wienhaus et S. Bortitz, FIRST RESULTS OF ANALYSES OF TRACE-ELEMEN TS IN WASTE WOOD, CHARCOAL,AND ACTIVATED CARBON, Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 53(4), 1995, pp. 269-272
Waste wood (wood from pulled down houses, weared out furnitures, and o
ther wooden materials) may be contaminated by several trace elements p
artially in noteworthy amounts, caused by environmental influences, fo
rmer application of wood preservatives or dye stuffs, and by some tech
nological procedures. Watersoluble parts of those elements may pollute
soil and ground water if such wooden material is stored in the open a
ir. The cited examples demonstrate moreover, that a control oftrace el
ement content is necessary also during production of charcoal and acti
vated carbon.
