Abstract
A Digital Power Range Neutron Monitor (DPRNM) has been developed for B oiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear power plants, using digital signal processing techniques. The DPRNM system has the finite impulse respons e digital filter which has a band pass characteristics of DC to 10Hz t o pass neutron detector signals, in which 50Hz or 60Hz signals are sha rply cut off to attenuate noises coming from the power supply more tha n 40dB. For fast signal processing, the digital signal processor was u tilized in the digital filter. In performance tests, frequency charact eristics, delay time of the digital filter and the response of the DPR NM for in-core neutron detector signals recorded in a real plant were measured. It is confirmed that the DPRNM meets the requirements for th e application to BWR nuclear power plants.
