R. Grzywacz et al., IDENTIFICATION OF MU-S-ISOMERS PRODUCED IN THE FRAGMENTATION OF A SN-112 BEAM, Physics letters. Section B, 355(3-4), 1995, pp. 439-446
Decays of over forty short-lived (T-1/2 from approximate to 50 ns to 7
0 mu s) isomeric states including a new isomer As-66m produced in the
fragmentation of a Sn-112 beam (58 A . MeV, 63 A . MeV) on a Ni-nat ta
rget were observed at the final focus of the LISE3 spectrometer at GAN
IL. Their detection, based on the slow (approximate to 10 mu s) time c
orrelation of identified ions with the characteristic gamma-radiation,
represents a novel method to search for new isomers and can be used f
or unambiguous isotope identification for projectile fragment separato
r experiments. Isomeric yields and isomer-to-total production ratios w
ere determined.
