C. Hief et al., CARDIOVERTER DISCHARGES FOLLOWING SENSING OF ELECTRICAL ARTIFACT DUE TO FLUID PENETRATION IN THE CONNECTOR PORT, PACE, 18(8), 1995, pp. 1589-1591
We report a unique case of fluid penetration, 3 months after implantat
ion, in the connector port of an automatic implantable cardioverter de
fibrillator (ICD) with transvenous subcutaneous lead system. The patie
nt had coronary artery disease and recurrent episodes of ventricular f
ibrillation, the fluid caused electrical signals interpreted as ventri
cular fibrillation by the device, which triggered shock delivery.
