Abstract
The measurement of urinary enzyme activities can contribute to the dia gnosis of kidney damage, mainly of tubule damage. The elimination of e nzymes varies along the day and their concentration depends on the diu resis. It is thus often recommended to calculate the ratio of their ac tivity vs creatinine concentration. Whatever the cause of a kidney tub ule damage, there is an early and intense increase in the excretion of gamma-glutamyl transferase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase and alkalin e phosphatase. A more extensive use of these markers requires the vali dation of their measurement with biochemistry analyzers currently avai lable in veterinary practices.
