Two groups of five dogs has been artificially infected with 150 Ctenoc
ephalides felis. Dogs were placed in 2 clean rooms of approximatively
12 m(2) free of fleas. Part of the concrete floor was covered with a s
traw bed where dogs were lying and fleas could be able to develop. Onc
e the number of fleas has been stabilized to 30, on the 13th week, one
group received every 4 weeks one tablet containing 204,9 mg Lufenuron
(PROGRAM TM), the other group was left untreated (control group). Th
e effects of treatment only appeared at the 4th week after the first a
dministration : a brutal fall of mean number of fleas followed by a gr
adual fall. After the 7th week, the treated dogs had less than two fle
as when the control had 30.
