Abstract
Laparoscopic surgery offers the most effective form of treatment for w omen with severe endometriosis. The development of advanced laparoscop ic techniques allows complete removal of deeply infiltrating lesions. Implants can be laparoscopically dissected from all anatomical locatio ns, including severe involvement of the ureter, bladder, and colon. Wh en the endometriosis penetrates through the entire depth of the organ wall, complete resection and reanastomosis of the ureter or bowel can be safely performed laparoscopical ly by the experienced surgeon. Howe ver, optimal laparoscopic treatment requires not only surgical skill, but also comprehensive knowledge of pelvic anatomy and a good understa nding of endometriosis and its progression.
