Abstract
We report an all-fiber depolarizer that uses high-birefringence fibers with birefringence modulation. The device can be used to depolarize c oherent light from sources such as single-mode and multimode lasers. E xperiments with a He-Ne laser demonstrated a reduction in the degree o f polarization from 1 (0 dB) to -12 dB. (C) 1995 Optical Society of Am erica
