Abstract
A taxonomic description of 4 taxa of Microascus isolated from soil in Negev (Israel) is provided. Among them, one may be considered as a new taxon: Microascus dimonatus Sage sp.nov., and two seemed to be variet ies of known species: M. desmosporus var. macroperithecia Sage var. no v., M. trigonosporus var. macroperithecia Sage var. nov.. The last str ain isolated appeared to be only a variant of M, desmosporus var. macr operithecia. The main cultural characteristics and physiological prope rties of these species are described.
