Abstract
New results for the structure of closed eddies in thermally driven how s at low Prandtl numbers and high Grashof numbers are presented. The a nalysis provides an extension of the classical Prandtl-Batchelor theor em. Numerical calculations given here for laterally heated rectangular cavities are in excellent agreement with the extended theorem.
