The J = 1-0 ground state pure rotational transitions of monosubstitute
d carbon dioxide-O-17 ((OCO)-O-17) and -O-18((OCO)-O-18) isotopomers h
ave been investigated using a waveguide Fourier transform microwave sp
ectrometer especially designed for measurement of very weak signals. R
otational constants could be obtained for (OCO)-O-17, B-0 = 11350.539(
5) MHz and for (OCO)-O-18, B-0 = 11037.887(4) MHz. The O-17 quadrupole
coupling constant has been determined as -3.92(9) MHz and has been co
mpared with results from quantum chemical calculations. (C) 1995 Acade
