A high-resolution Fourier transform spectrum of propyne-dl in the regi
on from 275 to 350 cm(-1) of the lowest fundamental band v(10) was rec
orded at the MAX Laboratory in Lund, Sweden, using a synchrotron radia
tion source. At the MAX Laboratory a Bruker IFS 120-HR Fourier transfo
rm infrared spectrometer is connected to the 550-MeV storage ring in s
uch a way that part of the synchrotron radiation from the ring is dire
cted to the source compartment of the spectrometer to replace the norm
al blackbody radiation sources. The resolution obtained was about 0.00
10 cm(-1) and the signal-to-noise ratio in the sum spectrum of 50 scan
s was about 70. More than 1880 transitions from subbands with K Delta
K = -10 to +8 were used in the calculations. The standard deviation of
the least-squares fit with 16 molecular parameters was 0.00010 cm(-1)
. The performance of the synchrotron radiation source in high-resoluti
on molecular spectroscopy measurements in the far-infrared region is c
ompared to conventional Globar source measurements. (C) 1995 Academic
