Abstract
A transitory increase in the basal levels of lipase and N-acetyl-beta- D-glucosaminidase activity was observed in the latex of Euphorbia char acias plants with their roots in contact with the free fatty acids, bu tyric, 3-butenoic and caprylic. Incorporation of [C-14-1] -butyric aci d into latex was also demonstrated.
