M. Orendac et al., THERMODYNAMIC AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF THE S=1 HEISENBERG CHAIN NI(C2H8N2)(2)NI(CN)(4) - EXPERIMENTS AND THEORY, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 52(5), 1995, pp. 3435-3440
Specific-heat and susceptibility studies of powdered Ni(C2H8N2)(2)Ni(C
N)(4) have been performed from 50 mK to 20 K, and magnetization measur
ements have been conducted at 4.3 K in magnetic fields up to 6 T. The
results show that Ni(C2H8N2)(2)Ni(CN)(4) is an S = 1 antiferromagnetic
Heisenberg chain with a strong planar anisotropy. The low-temperature
specific-heat data show a contribution due to magnetic excitations wh
ich are interpreted within the framework of a strong coupling theory o
f (anti)excitons.
