Sj. Lengle et al., PALLIATIVE EMBOLIZATION OF FIBROSARCOMA FOR CONTROL OF TUMOR-INDUCED HYPOGLYCEMIA, Cardiovascular and interventional radiology, 18(4), 1995, pp. 255-258
A 77-year-old woman with prior long-standing insulin-dependent diabete
s presented with malignant hypoglycemia secondary to insulin-like subs
tances excreted from a large unresectable fibrosarcoma of the left thi
gh. Partial embolization of the tumor supply from the deep femoral art
ery was performed using 150-250 mu m polyvinyl alcohol foam particles.
After embolization, the patient's serum glucose levels reverted to no
rmal and she could be discharged from the hospital.
