H. Kobler et al., THE EFFECT OF INDUCED REFLECTIONS ON HUMAN ARTERIAL WAVE-FORMS, Clinical and experimental pharmacology and physiology, 22(6-7), 1995, pp. 487-489
1. External compression of the human brachial artery results in wavefo
rm reflection. 2. Resonant waves are found superimposed on the origina
l blood pressure signal. 3. The mechanism may be likened to the operat
ion of an organ pipe with reflections at both ends of an arterial segm
ent. 4. This has implications for measurements in arteries where exter
nal pressure is applied.
