Abstract
Analytical expressions are reported that provide estimation of the rat io between the primary yields of ionization and excitation, total radi olytic yield of degradation of molecules of a medium, and the energy c onsumed for ionization and excitation of molecules. Comparative analys is of calculated and experimental data on the primary activation in wa ter vapor and liquid water was performed. It was concluded that the ma in problem consists in the correct calculation of the primary excitati on yield. The relationships reported can be used for verification of d ata obtained with computer simulations.
