Ab. Gilman et al., STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF THE SURFACE OF A LAMINATE POLYIMIDE-FLUOROPOLYMER FILM-MODIFIED IN A LOW-FREQUENCY GLOW-DISCHARGE PLASMA, High energy chemistry, 29(4), 1995, pp. 270-274
Variations in the wettability of a PMF-351 laminate (polyimide and tet
rafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer) film under the action
of a low-frequency glow discharge plasma depending on the duration and
conditions of the treatment was studied. For the modified films, the
stability of contact angles theta upon film storage in air was studied
. Experimental values of theta were used for calculations of the total
free energy of the surface and its polar and dispersion components. C
hemical and structural changes on the polyimide and the fluoropolymer
surface of the film under the action of plasma were studied using the
technique of multiple internal-reflection IR spectroscopy. A possible
mechanism of these changes is suggested.
