Abstract
Comparative tests for stress corrosion to (sigma = 1200 MPa) were carr ied out on cracked 65G steel specimens with an AK-070 acrylic varnish- based coating in a salt mist chamber and in an aqueous solution with p H 4.2 that simulates the composition of the water-soluble coating. The failure times for the specimens tested in the salt mist chamber and i n the aqueous solution are linearly related, implying an identical mec hanism for the protective action of the inhibitors studied.
