Zc. Song et al., PALYNOLOGICAL ASSEMBLAGES ACROSS THE CRETACEOUS-TERTIARY BOUNDARY IN NORTHERN JIANGSU, EASTERN CHINA, Cretaceous research, 16(4), 1995, pp. 465-482
Palynological assemblages from the uppermost Cretaceous (Taizhou Forma
tion) and the basal Tertiary (First Member of Funing Formation) in nor
thern Jiangsu are described, and the distribution of some distinctive
palynomorphs, including Consoliduspollenites, Crassimarginpollenites,
Taizhoupollis, Jiangsupollis, Jianghanpollis, Morinoipollenites, Aquil
apollenites and Extratriporopollenites is discussed. Some species of t
hese genera are redescribed. The plants that produced them must have b
ecome extinct shortly before, or at approximately the end of the Creta
ceous Period because they are not present above the Cretaceous/Tertiar
y (K/T) boundary in northern Jiangsu. (C) 1995 Academic Press Limited.
