Abstract
We present a CH4 optical sensor using a 1.31 mu m distributed feedback (DFB) InGaAsP laser diode. This sensor uses a new type of signal proc essing providing auto-calibration to cancel emitter-amplitude variatio ns as well as changes in the optical transmission not due to the gas a nd enables the concentration of gases to be measured accurately. The r ealization of an industrial prototype of this methane sensor is report ed.
