Abstract
In this correspondence, we propose a comprehensive theory of the conve rgence and characterization of roots of order-statistics filters. Cond itions for the convergence of iterations of order-statistics filters a re proposed. Criteria for the morphological characterization of roots of order-statistics filters are also proposed.
