Abstract
This article describes the use of concept synthesis, as defined by Wal ker and Avant, to extract meaningful syndromes of disturbing behaviors as they are manifested in demented elders. The process resulted in th e identification of five distinct behavioral clusterings: Aggressive P sychomotor Behavior, Nonaggressive Psychomotor Behavior, Verbally Aggr essive Behavior, Passive Behavior and Functionally Impaired Behavior. These synthesized concepts are an initial attempt at clarifying nursin g perspective on disturbing behaviors in dementia. Copyright (C) 1995 by W.B. Saunders Company
