Abstract
As a result of observations in nature and in an experiment, the author s determined the qualitative composition of food of the predatory whel k Nucella heyseana. They calculated the coefficients of correlation an d regression equations linking the size of the nucellas and their prey , and rite size of the predator's radula and the hole drilled by it. T he feeding behavior of nucellas is described. The role of whelks in th e succession of littoral communities was revealed.
