The nitronyl nitroxide radical, yl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-o
xyl-3-oxide, hereafter denoted NIT(SMe)Ph, has been synthesized and th
e crystal structure solved. The space group and lattice parameters are
PZ(1)/a (2=4), with a = 9.437(2), b = 19.827(2), c = 8.516(2)Angstrom
and beta = 113.66(1)degrees. The magnetic behavior shown by this comp
ound is dominated by ferromagnetic intermolecular coupling, as shown b
y magnetic measurements and single crystal EPR spectra.
