Five new compounds, viz. 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl l-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl
)-beta-D-glucopyranoside, 4'-hydroxyphenacyl beta-D-glucopyranoside, i
hydro-7-hydroxy-2-(4'-hydroxy-3'-methoxy-phenyl)- 3-hydroxymethyl-5-be
nzofuranpropanol 4'-O-(3-O-methyl-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside), 1-(4'-hyd
roxy-3'-methoxyphenyl)-2- hydroxypropyl)-2''-methoxyphenoxy]-1,3-propa
nediol 4'-O-beta-D-xylopyranoside and 3'-O-methylcatechin 7-O-beta-D-g
lucopyranoside, together with several known compounds were isolated fr
om the root bark of Picea abies. The structures were elucidated on the
basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
