The process of nitrogen monoxide oxidation by sulfuric and nitric acid
mixtures has been studied under laboratory and model conditions at a
total pressure of up to 0.56 MPa, temperature of 293-353 K, and variou
s nitrose gas compositions. The degree of nitric acid utilization as a
n oxidizing agent and the influence of the amount of sulfuric acid on
its expenditure have been estimated. To design a bubbling apparatus em
pirical equations ate given which allow calculation of the degrees of
liquid-phase NO conversion, attainment of equilibrium conditions, and
nitric acid utilization.
