Abstract
We have developed a human information sensing system that can detect t he human conditions in a room, especially the number of occupants, the ir locations and activities. The sensor module consists of a vertical one-dimensional array detector made from pyroelectric ceramics (PbTiO3 ), an IR-transparent lens, a horizontal scanning mechanical part and a mechanical chopping part. The sensor is able to detect two-dimensiona l thermal distribution (8x40 or 8x60) and the human condition informat ion in a room (7 mx7 m) is taken by the sensor with fuzzy inference. T he sensor is low cost, and the sensor head module is small (40 mm in d iameter, 55 mm high) with low driving noise.
