Sf. Dziegielewski et C. Resnick, A MODEL OF CRISIS-INTERVENTION WITH ADULT SURVIVORS OF INCEST, Crisis intervention and time-limited treatment, 2(1), 1995, pp. 49-55
Incest and the sexual abuse of children remain an overwhelming problem
in current society. According to the National Resource Center On Chil
d Sexual Abuse (a subsidiary of the National Center on Child Abuse and
Neglect: United States Department Of Health and Human Services), in 1
992 the number of sexually abused children rose from 15% to 18%; in ot
her words from 404,100 to 486,000 cases. This article examines the prob
lems incest survivors experience and recommends the use of Robert's (1
991) seven stage Crisis Intervention Model as a means of directing tre
atment. Robert's seven stage model applies to a broad range of crises,
and is clearly applicable in the case of intervention with survivors
of incest.
