THE PROTON SPIN PUZZLE AND DEPOLARIZATION IN (P)OVER-BARP-](LAMBDA)OVER-BAR-LAMBDA

We point out that the measurement of target spin depolarization D-nn i n the ($) over bar pp --> ($) over bar Lambda Lambda reaction may test dynamical mechanisms invoked to explain the proton spin puzzle reveal ed by polarized deep-inelastic scattering experiments. In particular, models with negatively polarized ($) over bar ss pairs in the proton w ave function predict D-nn < 0, whereas models with positively polarize d gluons would predict D-nn > 0.
