Abstract
Electrostatic shock like solutions associated with the lower hybrid mo de in the presence of negative ions is obtained and the role of negati ve ions is discussed. It is found that shock like solutions exist when the hot electron concentration and the concentration of the negative ion species is greater than some limiting value.
