Abstract
The tunnelling kinetics of muonium (Mu) atoms in solid nitrogen (s-N-1 4(2)) have been studied using the technique of Mu spin relaxation in w eak longitudinal magnetic fields. At low temperatures the results are inconsistent with diffusion models using a single correlation time tau (c). Spatial inhomogeneity of solid nitrogen crystals arising at low t emperatures results in a two-component behaviour of the muon polarizat ion function.
