The local part of the complete alpha alpha potential is reconstructed
in the model of orthogonal conditions from experimental phase shifts a
t a fixed orbital angular momentum. The reconstructed potential depend
s only slightly on the relative orbital angular momentum. It is charac
terized by a more rapid decrease in the external area than the double-
folded potential constructed on the basis of realistic nucleon-nucleon
interactions and model densities of alpha particles.
