Abstract
We report the rearrangements of 11q23 in the form of t(6;11)(q27;q23) and t(11;16)(q23;q24) in three cases of acute monoblastic leukemia. Th e former translocation had only previously been reported in five cases of acute myeloid leukemia, while the latter is hitherto undescribed. In addition to describing a new chromosomal locus 16q24, which may par ticipate in translocational exchanges with 11q23, this report also con firms the close association between 11q23 rearrangement and the involv ement of the monocytic lineage in acute myeloid leukemia.
