Se. Munn et al., A NEW METHOD OF INTRALESIONAL BLEOMYCIN THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF RECALCITRANT WARTS, British journal of dermatology, 135(6), 1996, pp. 969-971
We have used a new technique of bleomycin injection to treat intractab
le palmar, plantar and periungual warts. Following local anaesthesia w
ith topical EMLA(TM) (lignocaine and prilocaine) cream, 1 mg/ml bleomy
cin solution was dropped on to the wart and 'pricked' into the wart us
ing a Monolet(TM) needle. We achieved 92% success rate which compares
well with other authors whose success rates with intralesional bleomyc
in vary between 33 and 92%, We conclude that this technique of intrale
sional bleomycin therapy is an effective, safe and generally well tole
rated treatment for recalcitrant warts.
