Abstract
Literature relevant to digestive-capacity variation between breeds or genotypes of pigs is reviewed in this paper. The general pattern found in the literature is that significant differences in digestion more c ommonly exist between breeds with large differences in their genetic b ackground, and the differences are most pronounced in their large-inte stinal structure and fibre digestibility. Based on the results of the literature review, it is concluded that genetically different pigs fav our a specific type of diet in terms of digestibility.
