Vulvitis circumscripta plasmacellularis (Zoon's vulvitis) is a distinc
t clinicopathological entity which presents as a shiny, atrophic, eryt
hematous plaque of the vulva. It is an idiopathic condition with chara
cteristic clinical and histological findings that generally occur in i
solation of other medical disorders. We report a 36-year-old woman wit
h vulvitis circumscripta plasmacellularis associated with polyglandula
r endocrine failure and circulating autoimmune antibodies. The associa
tion between Zoon's vulvitis and these autoimmune conditions raises th
e possibility that Zoon's vulvitis may be an autoimmune disorder.
