T. Knebel et Eu. Schlunder, RETENTION OF VOLATILES IN CONTACT DRYING COMBINED WITH MEMBRANE SEPARATION, Chemical engineering and processing, 34(3), 1995, pp. 219-227
The combination of contact drying and membrane separation has been exa
mined in an experimental study. The drying material consisted of porou
s particles wetted with a binary mixture. It is shown that selective r
emoval of the less volatile component is possible by properly choosing
the applied membrane. Important influences of the operation parameter
s on the drying rate and selectivity of the drying process are present
ed and explained. The advantages of the combined process compared to a
conventional contact drying process are discussed.
