Abstract
We describe an ultrafast scanning tunneling microscope (USTM) with pic osecond temporal resolution. We present results of single-point ultraf ast tunneling measurements and outline some of the methods and pitfall s in USTM. Ultimately, the technique has the potential to create picos econd scale movies of surface phenomena with atomic spatial resolution . (C) 1995 American Institute of Physics.
