Abstract
Territorial male Ophioblennius atlanticus atlanticus were found to swi tch to experimentally deserted nests of other males and adopt their fr y. This alloparental care appears to aid in acquiring additional crutc hes of eggs at the nest site. (C) 1995 The Fisheries Society of the Br itish Isles
