S. Frunza et al., ON SOME TRANSITION-METAL COMPLEXES HAVING ORIENTATIONAL PROPERTIES(II) - COPPER(II) COMPLEXES, Crystal research and technology, 30(5), 1995, pp. 637-641
Alignment layers containing copper(II) complexes with acrylic acid or
poly polyvinylpyrrolidone show homeotropic orientational properties. T
his behaviour is supposed to be due to the particular structure of the
complex copper(II) ions. We give spectroscopic arguments to support t
he anchoring of liquid crystal (LC) molecules by coordination to the c
opper ion within the alignment layer.
