Lb. Maleci et al., MICROMORPHOLOGICAL AND PHYTOCHEMICAL CHARACTERS OF THE 2 SUBSPECIES OR TEUCRIUM-FLAVUM (LABIATAE) FROM THE ITALIAN FLORA, Flora, 190(3), 1995, pp. 237-242
Micromorphology and distribution of trichomes in different plant parts
of Teucrium flavum subsp. flavum and T. flavum subsp. glaucum are des
cribed. Moreover, the composition of their essential oils is reported.
In T. flavum subsp. glaucum monoterpenes and alcohols predominate, wh
ereas T. flavum subsp. flavum shows a lower number of compounds with n
oticeable amount of sesquiterpenes. Both subspecies contain cis- and t
rans-4-methoxycinnamic acids as unique metabolites in the corollas.
